DATA CENTRES

WHAT ARE THEY?
Data Centres are enormous facilities (some the size of several football fields), filled with thousands of interconnected servers that process, store and distribute data 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The explosion of cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence and the growing demand for digital services from companies and consumers has determined and will determine a strong demand for these structures in the near future.
ENERGY AND THERMAL ASPECT
The continuous operation of data centres requires impressive energy consumption. Currently, these centres represent approximately 1-2% of global electricity consumption but this number is expected to grow in the coming years.
Interestingly, approximately 40% of a data centre’s total energy consumption is dedicated to cooling equipment. This figure highlights how crucial the implementation of effective thermal insulation solutions are to reducing energy consumption and environmental impact.
UNION FOAM SOLUTIONS
Thermal insulation inside a Data Centre not only plays a fundamental role for the energy balance, but must also have some very specific characteristics, such as a total absence of condensation on the cooling circuit ducts and pipework, good fire performance characteristics and the compatibility of the product with electronic equipment (absence of dust and fibres).
The perfect product for these applications is EUROBATEX HIGH TECHNOLOGY.
In fact, thanks to the low thermal conductivity (λ ≤ 0.042 W/m·K) it is able to efficiently limit heat loss or gain, a reduction of up to 90% in heat transfer can be achieved! The very high resistance factor to water vapour diffusion (μ ≥ 10000) is able to completely eliminate the formation of condensation.
The fire reaction class B-s2,d0/BL-s1,d0 and the absence of halogens of this product not only ensure that the material has low flammability, but also that in the event of a fire it develops very few fumes and that these do not contain corrosive gases.
The product overview is completed by compliance with the Minimum Environmental Impact Criteria, specifically the absence of use of CFCs and HCFCs in this product, and its zero contribution to the degradation of the ozone layer; that is to say it makes zero contribution to the Greenhouse Effect (GWP Zero) and has no effect on the Ozone Layer (ODP Zero).
